Care 4 Rare

Rare diseases, though uncommon, still affect a fairly large number of the population. As per ICMR, as of October 2024, almost 15,000 patients suffering from various rare diseases have been recorded in India, half of which, unfortunately, are children, However, lack of adequate knowledge of symptoms and treatment options in the past has often led to poorer disease management. In 2021, the Government of India launched the National Rare Disease Policy, selecting 63 of these conditions, and offering patients treatment and financial assistance, a lifesaver for many of those suffering.

Disease 1 - CKD

OPPI’s #Care4Rare initiative caters to this miniscule section of patients, providing strong support to the government’s policy. Our member companies have developed special Centers of Excellence (CoEs), where they diligently work towards securing better outcomes, through research, therapy and treatment accessibility for people living with these conditions.

Through #Care4Rare, team OPPI is striving to improve lives of those patients suffering from rare diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease, Generalized Pustular Psoriasis, Fabry, Hereditary Angioedema, and Lysosomal Storage Disease, among others. The initiative aims to create awareness by offering insights into these conditions through informative LinkedIn posts and other media, addressing their symptoms, causes, and available treatment options.

Disease 2 - Haemophilia
